Media Badge vs.
Press Ribbon
|
There has been some confusion
about Press Passes, Media Badges and Press Ribbons, what each one
is and what is the difference. A "Press Pass" is an
industry term, but in terms of Dragon*Con, it is actually a
convention badge.
All Dragon*Con badges look alike. What makes a badge a Media Badge
(or Press Pass) is the Press Ribbon. This ribbon lets guests and
attendees know that you are working media and allows you access to
special Media events, such as Press Conferences. Only one badge is
issued per attendee. If you have already made arrangements for a
Dragon*Con Badge, you can NOT receive another badge.
As an attendee of Dragon*Con, you must have a Dragon*Con Badge in
order to enter Dragon*Con convention areas. As attending Media,
you are not necessarily eligible for a complimentary convention
badge. If you meet the necessary requirements, we will provide you
with a free badge and you will be notified that you are approved
for a free badge. Please see Media
Requirements for eligibility.
If you do not meet the requirements for a free badge, you will
also be notified of this and you will need to make your own
arrangements for a Dragon*Con badge, but you may still be eligible
for a Press Ribbon. If you are a Documentary crew, Podcaster or
Blogger, you can still apply for a Press Ribbon, but are not
eligible for a free badge.
If you have already made arrangements for a badge, please answer
the question "Do you need a Dragon*Con badge?" on the
Pass Request Form by checking the NO box. This indicates that you
are only requesting a Press Ribbon. Other arrangements might
include purchasing your badge through convention Registration,
attending as a Guest, a Dealer or Exhibitor, an Artist, an Eternal
Member or as Volunteer Staff.
